Want to learn some cool fun tricks?! Clicker training is a great way to get to know your dog better using fun and interesting training techniques. This course covers the basic principles of clicker training, shaping, targeting, behaviour chaining … don’t worry, we’ll teach you to understand what all this means!
Fed up of your dog not coming when you call for them? Do they seem more interested in everything else except you?! We’ll teach you how to boost your dog’s motivation to come when you call to overcome those big distractions dogs sometimes can’t resist – like going to meet and greet other people and dogs on walks! Hurry, book EARLY as spaces go fast and many owners book before they’ve even brought their puppy home!
Puppyhood can be difficult, frustrating, and tiring … we know, we’ve been there! Let us show you how to make those early weeks fun and stress-free. We’ll give you all the necessary skills, techniques and knowledge to make you a confident (and sane!) puppy owner … and ensure you and the whole family learn the best ways to have fun with your new four legged family member.
Puppies can start our classes as early as 9 weeks of age (must be under 18 weeks at start of course). Just make sure they’ve had at least their first set of vaccinations. If your puppy is given the kennel cough vaccine, please do not bring your dog to group classes until at least 7 days afterwards as this is a live vaccine and therefore easily transmitted.
Our puppy classes are limited to 6 puppies. Each class runs for 1 hour. Welcome meetings (for owners only) run for 1.5 hours. All held indoors at South Hykeham village hall. Click here for more details about course contents.
The Home Puppy Package
This package is ideal for you if you’re looking for private lessons in your own home. Alison will come to you once a week over a period of four weeks, meaning you can schedule your puppy training to fit in with your busy lifestyle, not have to worry about travelling to classes, and have an expert on hand to answer all your questions … she can even accompany you and your puppy on your first walk and be at hand the first time you let puppy off lead for that added reassurance! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a convenient date and time.
- Sunday 18 March 2018 10am (no class on 01 April)
- Sunday 03 June 2018 10am
- more to come …
Socialisation isn’t just about running about playing with other dogs and being cuddled by lots of different people. Let us show you how good socialisation should be done. Learn how to safely introduce your puppy to new experiences (sights, sounds, smells, different animals etc), and safe play, in a controlled and positive way that will overwhelm your puppy or cause fear. Designed as an additional learning opportunity to our puppy foundation course, for puppies under 12 months of age to explore and gain confidence, while having fun in a fully controlled and supervised environment. Limited to 9 puppies. Held outdoors at a secure grass and sand area. Note: these are NOT free-for-all puppy frenzies!
Our Puppy courses are run by our qualified Animal Behaviourist, Alison, to safeguard against future behaviour problems. Puppyhood is a crucial part of your dogs development, please check that any trainer you use is a member of The Animal Behaviour and Training Council (www.abtcouncil.org.uk) to ensure their methods and knowledge have been fully assessed by the APDT, UK (www.apdt.co.uk).
